I am running Plex Version 1.9.4.4325 with a HDHomeRun Connect and a HDHomeRun Dual with the latest firmware as of this post. Programs are recording very well at high quality. Usually programs record with one or two glitches that hang the recording for a few seconds but always continue right on. After a few days, if I go in and look on the status of the tuners, it will say more programs are recording than the tuner supports. Example, Zero programs were actually recording, however Plex says 18 are currently recording. :o Then it will say it’s recording the program I want to watch on the recording schedule. I see the little progress dial go all the way through, but the recording is never available nor shows up under the Plex_DVR library. I have to completely stop Plex and start it. Once I do that the programs start recording and showing up in my Plex_DVR library for a few days. I have one channel that cuts out often, but for the most part is good. It records the full shows about 80% of the time. The acutal HDHomeRun tuners don’t have activity lights. Seems like a Plex issue because all I have to do is restart Plex. But that is a pain in the neck and I am always forgetting to do it and am always missing out on shows. It’s not reliable :’(
Did you happen to set any of the auto-delete policies? They are based upon original air date, not the date recorded. That has been one thing that caused this. The other is that you originally set the delete policies in the recording setup from the program guide. But it also lives in the Library card for the show. If you click the pencil on a show’s card and then select Advanced from the left side you should get a card like this:
The deletion policies at the top of this card may be set to delete your shows. So they would get recorded and immediately deleted.
Thank you for the response. I checked in the settings for the recording, and the advanced settings in the Library and it’s listed like you say Keep All Episodes, and Never Delete. Other shows set the same way have 30 or more recordings. I just checked and the Recording Schedule shows 4 programs being recorded. The tuner settings shows THREE recordings in progress on each tuner. This is clearly a Plex bug. I recently restarted Plex and it’s down from 18 on a tuner and shows are recording again. If the shows recording on the Recording Schedule would just work it would be great. Partial Recordings are enabled but of course after Recording Schedule shows that my favorite shows are recording all the way ring around the program sometimes they don’t always show up in the Library.
Sounds like you are experiencing the 100% issue discussed on numerous other threads.
Further Investigation shows that the first two shows in the list recorded in full in their .grab folders but got “stuck” at 100% where the show did not transfer to the Library. Then the next two shows hung, because the first HDHomeRun Dual tuner was available and so Plex didn’t technically need to use the second HDHomeRun Dual. Since the tuner was marked in use even though it wasn’t nothing recorded Because the recording .grab was registered to the First tuner nothing at all recorded in the .grab folders for Shark Tank. Thus if you look at the Tuner Status it says two tuners and four programs currently recording which is impossible but also why nothing recorded for the two Shark Tank shows. The only thing I can remember doing is enabling recycling bin for the Plex directory recently. I used to go days before missing recorded shows. Now I can’t even record more than two shows at a single time even though four tuners. I was at least able to copy the .ts files in the .grab folders so that when I restart plex -again- that it doesn’t delete the “partially recorded” shows.
Another Update: It looks like stopping and starting the Plex server did finally move the shows hung at 100% to the Plex_DVR library, however that doesn’t solve the failure to record and loss of the two Shark Tank Episodes that didn’t record at all since Plex logjam on the HDHomeRun DUAL - PLEX, please make the DVR reliable, I am cheering for you guys. I can’t recommend to anyone else, or even use myself until recording shows can be reliable. After a restart it’s showing nothing recording now like it should. This seems like a Plex software bug to me.
