I am hopeing someome can help me! i am wanting to upgrade to a plex pass so i can take advantage of the DVR function. i am lookiing at getting a HDHomeRun as my tuner but the problem i have is theat i am a Blind person and i need to have accse to the audio description sound track that gets inbeded in the tv/film signal. i have read that plex dont support this when strimming live content at this time but i can not find anything about when you are recording and then playing back at a later date. can any one tell me if this is possible ? as i dont wanna spend out on a plex pass and the turner to find it done work… Help plz
There is currently no way to select the audio channel for live tv.
But the DVR records all available audio channels.
So you can switch at playback time to the audio description channel, if it is available.
as @OttoKerner has said there is currently no way of controlling which audio track is used in LiveTV, I have a bug reported submitted to plex about this, but as for a recording you can choose the Audio Descriptive track in any client, just start a file and then go in setting and choose the required track.

The audio description issue is making Live tv pretty useless to me; on a 55/65” TV SD channels just don’t cut it.

Please note the audio description in the UK is comprised of mixing in the two tracks together so this means that with Plex it is currently useless in the UK, you can either get the track without audio description or the audio description on its own without the TV soundtrack.
In addition the TV guide using the iOS app and VoiceOver is very difficult to navigate, I can just about navigate round the few programmes on now and next, but moving forward in the schedule doesn’t seem possible.

Since this has come back to the top, I’ll ask here before starting my own thread. I’m running server version 1.16.5.1554 on a Windows 7 box, but had the same issue prior to the last upgrade.
Is there anything that can be done about Live TV and DVR recordings playing the descriptive audio track? On playback, I usually have two audio track options – English and Spanish (no mention of descriptive audio), and switching between them makes no discernible difference. This is US broadcast TV if that matters.
I managed to use Xteve plugin with an edited m3u playlist which contained the PID’s for the audio description tracks.
The reason I played about with this was to get english language for channels like MTV / Nickelodeon Germany…etc on Astra 19.2 integrated into my Plex EPG.
It worked pretty well tbh.
