@OttoKerner forgive me if I am misremembering, but I thought you mentioned somewhere that you can automatically convert the DVR recordings to h.264 after it removes the commercials. Is that possible?
While the difference between h.264 and mpg2 isnt a deal breaker, it would be nice to compress all those TV Shows I am recording

Can this work with HDHomerun Extend? It has hardware transcoding. Will Plex use it?
Yes it will work with the Extend. Plex will send the transcode level you specify to the Extend. The Extend then does the transcoding before sending to Plex whereas on non Extend devices Plex will have to transcode the recording after the recording has finished.
