PLEX DVR is a great idea in theory.
However, it is unacceptable that by now there is no option to automatically transcode the files properly and compress them to an acceptable size.
This is taking too long to happen! DVR has been a feature for a long time and this needs to be addressed ASAP!
The “experimental transcoding” box when ticked does nothing to reduce the size of the .TS files.
I am so tired of having to trawl through forums trying to find a post processing script that will work when this feature SHOULD be built into plex natively.
I am not a coder and I shouldn’t have to be to get some simple functionality out of software that I pay monthly for.
Recorded TV is never super high quality anyway, who the hell wants uncompressed files that are unnecessarily large and use up all of your storage space, the files should be at the most one quarter of their current size after transcoding.
Why is this not an option???
I know some network tuners have built in compression/transcoding but mine does not, in Australia we are limited to what we can get.
FIX THIS PLEX! GIVE ME AN OPTION TO REDUCE THE FILE SIZES OF DVR RECORDINGS!!!
