Same issue here on Nvidia Shield with Homerun HD
Lets fix this issue once and for all. If Plex needs diagnostics done I have Firestick 4kās to pull data from.
Plex employee can tag me if so.
Same here house runs on Google Android TV units and I have to wait for a recording to finish before playing it back, even watch it live and rewind does not work.
If I remember back when it used to work it was broken when the new player was introduced as the manual switching to old player used to fix the issue.
Please fix it Plex itās probably the worst issue in play on android for functionality.
I agree! This is the most annoying issue with Android TV. So frustrating trying to watch Live TV while the show is still recording. This is completely unusable and the number one reason I will not recommend Plex to anyone. I can live with the āWatch from Startā not working, but not being able to rewind to the beginning and watch a live show and rewind/fast forward while it is recording is a showstopper.
Can we get the latest feedback on this issue? Is it going to be fixed or should we just abandon ship?
@elan can you please share the āfactsā regarding this issue (and the inability to reliably rewind/fast forward while watching a show that is currently being recorded. Is it being worked on, where is it in the priority list. Any information will help stop the bad publicity that youāre trying to squash.
Thanks for further proving my point here, @elan.
Iād give him till at least Monday to respond, it is a weekend. But it is crazy how Plex employees donāt respond. Iām going on 21 days waiting for an employee to respond on live TV issues that affects all hdhomerun users. Donāt get me wrong guys, I do agree with you I just got to look at the other side of it too. But their lack of response just makes me think some employees donāt give a crap sometimes.
Very kind of you!
I donāt have anything specific to say as Iām not familiar with the issue myself, but Iāll ask around.
@elan did your internal queries gather any information? I understand the Android market is wide-reaching with devices and hardware so perhaps having some approved devices will stable the android offering, perhaps starting with Google devices (Pixel and Google TV Dongle), Amazon Fire Sticks and Nvidia Sheild.
There also seems to be a clear gap here between forums and bug tracking, if the community had the ability to create bug reports and then refer to the bug numbers in here we could then vote or +1 if we have the issue to raise itās priority. This way it would be easy to track internally with devs as they should use the same bug reference on the pipeline and releases can also link back to bugs closed from community reporting.
This would create a continuous loop of reporting and feedback on closure and begin to restore confidence to the community that their voice is not being igored in certain areas.
Two people were investigating, one was going to comment back on this thread when there was something to report.
Weāre still looking into this, but havenāt tracked down exactly the cause of it yet
I notice this problem was first reported Mar 21. I use the NVIDIA Shield as my player (latest Google Playstore version) I have been unable to watch live recordings from the start for many months now. It was only yesterday that I experienced the continuous loop the problem.
My concern is that Plex have done little to fix this obviously long standing problem.
A better error reporting procedure is needed rather than just hoping a Plex employee may happen to read and take some interest in a problem.

More like July, 2018.
Different issues can have similar symptoms, as I mentioned earlier. It was working on Android until March, and we think weāve narrowed it down to a change that happened when we bumped our version of ExoPlayer.
Oh, so only 4 months then. Cause you somehow think thatās much better? Though looking through the original thread there were still plenty of people reporting it wasnāt fixed in Jan/Feb either.
Also good to know you guys donāt believe in regression testing.
Ok guys- lets keep things civil.
I am sure they do testing, but we canāt expect a team of a dozen people to catch all the bugs that millions of actual users might come across.
I am frustrated too, but I think the important thing is that they are aware of it and are currently responding on a regular basis. Lets give them a little more time.
Agreed Dave is one of the few employees that actually responds to people and itās not National pick on Dave day⦠that was last week you missed it!
This still works for me with an older version of the android TV app (9 months old I think). I stopped all client updates on my shield TVās once I had the system stable, and I highly recommend this approach for Android clients which tend to have a lot of issues with them, at least in my recent history.
Yes, to do this means stopping all apps from auto-updating, so we have to update the other apps manually, but if you use Plex for your core linear viewing, it really has to be solid. When my wife started saying āletās get a Comcast boxā, I knew I had to change tactics. I know the Apple TV implementation for Plex is really solid, but didnāt want to swap out all my Shield TVs.
And most of the new features that seem to be added are new streaming options or other things that are not core to why most of us run Plex, so there really isnāt a need to be running anything recent.
I was more than civil for long enough. I gave up on that a little over a year ago and at this point Iām just going to call it like it is.
Keeping things civil is part of our forum guidelines, and Iād urge you to follow those guidelines
