For some weeks i have been getting e-mails from the Plex forums like this one (seven mails since the 18th of july now):
DelphianAus sent you a message
I was ruining windows phone 8 using the old Samsung ativ s using the same Microsoft account backed up my settings and apps list to the cloud . Then I reset the new phone to factory settings logged in on the same Microsoft account and let it add all my apps I gad from the store. The plex app I had on the old phone I got via the Microsoft store which is also how I got it on the new phone. It tells me I need to pay to activate again which I did when it was originally installed on my old phone
Same here, really gets on my nerves … and they even write to my old mail-adress, which I changed after the security-breach … so I’m kinda scared that the old hackers are trying to fish for passwords or something …
I deleted my Plex account a few weeks ago because I never use it. Starting right after I deleted my account I began to get random emails saying that some random user had contacted me, usually about 1 a week. This morning I wake up to 40+ emails, all from some random thread that I can’t access because I deleted my account. I tried to recreate my account with my email address and couldn’t, so I used another email address to create an account to try and see if I could figure out what was going on. Plex needs to figure this out and fix it soon.

looks like those are the ones that breached into plex before.
they still use my old mail (and of other users as written above).
the “answer to this”-url also has a weird path: plex.vanillacommunity…
and it looks like there are just 2-3 email-adresses spamming us all …
changed my password, again. just to be on the safe-side.
Vanilla is the name of the forum software Plex uses. They’ve clearly gone for the hosted option, and therefore this would be a legacy, non-branded URL for https://forums.plex.tv
Looks as if someone’s just opened up a public mailing list.
Still receiving the spam. I’m wondering if this is only affecting a subset of users… cause I’d think more people would be freaking out about it if it was widespread.
This discussion probably would have been better suited in the “Welcome to the new Plex Forums” category, but oh well… hopefully the issue gets noticed/fixed soon.
