Getting spammed at my plex account email address

As of yesterday I am getting a lot of spam at my plex account email address. This is an email that I use for plex and nothing else. So either you guys have leaked the address unknowingly (that’s not good) or knowingly (even worse). FYI.

If those messages are coming from the forum - turn off a LOT of notifications.

If not, it’s an issue caused by the Big Security Breech some time ago. Well known, but certainly unfortunate. All that stuff is going into my spam folder. I love Gmail.

Same here, it just started a couple days ago.

I can confirm this is happening to me as well. My e-mail address was either shared, hacked or otherwise compromised. I received 2 or 3 in the last few days. The e-mail address I registered with for my plex account was only provided here so when I start getting spam I know where to look. Now I need to change my e-mail address for my account and create a new one. I’m curious if there is some sort of effort going on to determine how this would of happened so it can be stopped.

It is well known what happened.
It’s what triggered the change of forum software back then.

Wasn’t that like 2 years ago? This started for me in the last 30 days or so. At any rate I changed my account information and will report back if it happens again.

Yes, it was that far back. And the data started to appear at the usual dumping grounds only a few weeks after it went down. That spammers are only starting to use it only just now is just coincidence.
Maybe they think they are really clever to target Plex user in particular or something.

OK. I guess I can buy that. Sadly I don’t have a create date on that account. I’ve fixed the glitch on my side so they no longer have my e-mail. If it happens again, we can revisit.
