EAC3 audio passthrough

The device I am using to display video doesn’t have speakers so I use a small speaker connected through the audio jack on the monitor. I get no sound when playing any video with EAC3 audio. Plays fine in MPC-HC and Kodi. Plays fine if I optimize and change to AAC audio.

Exclusive audio - checked/not checked
Audio device - HDMI monitor selected
Audio device type - Basic
Audio channels 2.0/auto

“We do not recommend enabling passthrough as the first thing you do”
" Still having problems? No audio?

Start your testing by unchecking all passthrough formats."

HOW DO YOU DO THIS and why doesnt your “help sections” tell you. I see this option nowhere in any setting.

Its the Mac player, im on Windows.

Thanks for the info. Still no EAC3 audio from any files. Most of my 4k content has EAC3 audio.

Ok I will need to report to the desktop team.

Can I ask what model Mac you are running this on. I know you said it does not have speakers but does it not have a headphone jack? I don’t mean to suggest you are “holding it wrong”, just curious and knowing model may help understand what is up.

Do you have any application logs https://support.plex.tv/articles/windows-mac-app-logs/? Nothing can really be done without these.

Its a Windows 10 NUC connected to a LG 32GN63T with no speakers. Im using a 3.5mm from the monitor to a small speaker.

Those are server logs, not application logs. The link I provided gives directions for application logs.

AM I supposed to have an eac3 decoder in the codecs directory on the PC playing the video? Cause there doesnt appear to be one. AAC, AC3, DCA, h264, hevc, mp3 and mpeg4

This log line [MPVEngine] Property 'audio-spdif' set to '' means that none of the passthrough options are set. Please check the preferences as indicate in the first reply.

As far as being able to decode EAC3, this line appears to be your problem:

Make sure that the specified directory is actually writable.
