EAC3 Transcode error

Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033
OS: Ubuntu 20.04
Running in Docker

Im running plex media server in docker and about a month ago EAC files stopped working.

Things i’ve tried:

*Rename codec folder

*Rebuilt container using a different image

  • Set permissions on transcode folder and codec folders

This is what the log says:

Oct 12, 2021 13:42:23.069 [0x7fb46d1fbb38] ERROR - [Transcode] Unzip: could not set executable bit on output file
Oct 12, 2021 13:42:23.070 [0x7fb46d1fbb38] ERROR - [Transcode] CodecManager: failed to extract zip
Oct 12, 2021 13:42:23.070 [0x7fb46d1fbb38] ERROR - [Transcode] Error configuring transcoder: Decoder install failed: eac3_eae

Everything else is fine but this codec. No issues with transcodes or AAC audio.

@biftabravo

  1. Stop the container.

  2. Go to the actual directory where the container’s /config is stored.

  3. set the UID/GID of everything there (recursive) to match the UID/GID you run the container as.

Now, as for why you can’t set the exec bit –

  1. The above permissions
    -or
  2. The partition it’s on does not allow exec (mounted with noexec or not mounted with exec (non-boot partitions can be funny like that )

Thanks for the reply!

Will check this out later on and update.

@ChuckPa thanks for the help all sorted. Sorry for the late response!

I had setup a mergerfs on the Library folder and that was married to a HDD that was NTFS. The HDD was mounted under root.

My docker was running under a different user. I just changed the guid/uid of the docker and all good now!

Totally forgot about the mergerfs stuff

K.I.S.S works every time :smiling_imp:
