Hi,
I have the error as per the topic title which has persisted through every PMS update since the latest version I have that still works (1.18.5). That is, files with E-AC3/TrueHD/Atmos codecs require a Direct Stream with audio transcoded to AAC/FLAC since I don’t currently have a surround setup. I update periodically to check if the issue is fixed and, since it never seems to be, I downgrade to 1.18.5 again. I don’t have issues with any non-Dolby files.
I’ve found numerous posts about this error, both here and on reddit, which indicate the issue lies with downloading the EasyAudioEncoder. On review of my log files, it seems that may also be the case for me but the specific reasons for having this issue aren’t clear to me and, despite hours of searching, I was unable to identify a single thread with a definitive resolution, they just seemed to close through inactivity.
I have tried deleting the codecs directory for it to be rebuilt with no success, the EAE just won’t download again. Curiously, it won’t download when I do the same after downgrading to 1.18.5 either, I instead have to restore the codec directory from a backup (which has been my failsafe to this point). Equally curiously (to me at least, probably obvious to anyone that knows what’s happening) and somewhat annoying is that the EAE that works fine with 1.18.5 does not work with any subsequent updated version of PMS, which is why I have to stick with the older version.
I attach the log file and reproduce what I think are the offending errors below to potentially save time if this is an obvious fix. I don’t presume to actually have any idea what I’m doing, I’m just clutching at straws at the moment so any help would be gratefully received. Whilst I currently have a functioning version of 1.18.5, I’m wary of the fact that PMS periodically issues required updates, the next of which I fear will leave me trailing if I cannot resolve this issue first.
