I have been reading/searchin gthrough the forum but did not find the same problem I am having. If I have missed it, please point me in the right direction and I will close this discussion. I apologize in advance if this is the wrong area.
I am using Plex Media Server 1.0.3.2461, and latest clients on Windows(Plex HTML5 Web Player), iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPad Air 2, AppleTv4, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Samsung TV. I watch on the devices directly or sometimes use a phone to cast to a Chromecast.
The issue I am having since ~June, is that embedded subtitles stopped working across all devices exept iPhone, iPad and Apple TV4. The subtitles on all other devices are appear as black colored on the top of the screen with a very big font. (On the Samsung TV it says 30 px). The subtitle options on the plex clients have only effect on font size, but not on placement or color of the subtitles.
The issue is not seen if I use the same video file, copy to a device (e.g. Samsung Galaxy Note3/4) and then watch the movie locally on the device. The issue is not reproduceable on iPhone, iPad or AppleTV4 devices. If I use a media file with external .srt subtitles, it works fine across all devices.
To reproduce the issue:
- Start Plex App on a device
- Connect to a Server, if not already connected
- Select a movie shared by the Server
- Choose subtitles
- start the movie
Any ideas what could be wrong?
