Embedded Version?

I cant SSH into 2.17 either… had a 1.x pmp embedded for Pi2 working before and did a fresh install of 2.17 and it boots… get to settings and turn on SSH but it refuses all passwords…

what are the currrent passwords/proceedures for SSH and wifi/conman setup

you know … after a couple years work now… you think that you could at least have all system setting in GUI like openpht/rasplex…

@dragonmel I used ssh root@ipaddress and pw=plex to connect to the PMP on Pi3B+ instance. Works ok here.

Are you making a SSH connection to the same IP/hostname? If so you may need to clear out the old keys on that computer initiating the SSH connection to the RPi.

@Achilles @grosminski

its a new fill so it wiped out the sd card for the Pi

its connected directly to my laptop and I give it a address

it replies to pings and responds to SSH requests.

I have deleted keys… and I am asked to accept the SSH keys on first attempt…

the SSH to root using plex as the password is not working…

anyone care to take the latest full image and fill a new test card to make sure something isn’t wrong with latest builds?

can’t think of what else to do…

@Achilles

any ideas ?

No. I don’t have a RPi to test with but a fresh install on a NUC did not give me any issues.

@Achilles

well i got sick of trying to get in via ssh

I opened the CF card on my mac… edited the config file to boot up into shell

then setup connmand manually by creating a /storage/.cache/connmand settings file for my wifi ssd then manually connecting

funny thing is that when I boot the pi on wifi, I can now ssh into it wirelessly … very weird

still can’t update from within the embedded settings panel? I loaded 2.10 to see if it was a regression … looks like I will have to wipe it again and install 2.17 manually and set all this up again from scratch…

this really is bassackwards since rasplex has had a front end for system settings for YEARS…

this PMP embedded still screams amateur hour / hobby project… actually since rasplex is someones hobby and its more polished… that is an insult to good hobby programmers…

Hello markus101;
FYI, it seems that 2.17 may be broken vis a vis Alsa. I get nil when trying to detect the HiFiberry card (aplay -l gives no sound cards found. The team at Hifiberry sent me a Raspbian that does boot the PiB3+ and has the Amp2 card visible in Alsa (aplay -l shows the card)…

…but then I’m at a dead-end with respect to adding PMP to Raspbian. Thoughts? Help?

what happened to the nightly builds?

When I access the nightlies folder via https://nightlies.plex.tv/public-test/plexmediaplayer/embedded-testing/ to see if any new releases are available I am now asked for a username and password, is this correct?

Any News please?

don’t make me buy another roku, I love my PMP embedded nuc… but wheres the DVR and other cool bits and pieces that have been added to all the other players???
+1 for an Update!!

We’ve posted a new test build of the embedded PMP at the usual location: https://nightlies.plex.tv/public-test/plexmediaplayer/embedded-testing/ Specifically, https://nightlies.plex.tv/public-test/plexmediaplayer/embedded-testing/2.25.0.948-77f379e1/ This build bumps the LibreELEC version from 8.2.2 to 8.2.5. The most notable difference is that 8.2.5 supports the Raspberry Pi 3B+.

In the next few days, we are going to bump the version of libcec in the LibreELEC build to a version beyond what’s in 8.2.5. In our internal testing, this appears to stop automatic tuning to the PMP device after the TV is turned on for those with LG TVs.

THANK YOU!

Confirmed 2.25.0.948-77f379e1 is working flawlessly on RPi 3B+. Once initial config is done, everything works as expected (WiFi setup still requires CLI config and timezone offset needed a script to persist across boots). Not sure if it’s just me, but all of the menus and animations feel way more responsive too.

Impressive work from the embedded team at Plex.

Can we update the version from within the running embedded PMP or do we have to do a fresh install?

Drop PlexMediaPlayer-2.25.0.948-77f379e1.Generic-x86_64.tar or PlexMediaPlayer-2.25.0.948-77f379e1.RPi2-arm.tar respectively into the Update share of the embedded appliance.

  • For Windows, use Windows File Explorer for the UNC path: \\plexmediaplayer\Update or \\ip-address-of-your-embedded-machine\Update
  • For MacOS, use Command+K and enter the server address: smb://plexmediaplayer/Update or smb://ip-address-of-your-embedded-machine/Update
