We’ve had a number of challenges with getting certified for this release. We’re working through a few things directly with Amazon. I don’t have a timeline on when we’ll be live but this is the team’s number one priority right now. We’re as unhappy as you are that we don’t have a solution for you guys yet. I’m sorry I don’t have better news to share at this point
Can you at least come clean with us and tell us exactly what is holding up the progress? Is it because of Quebec and their archaic French laws? After all the Alexa skill was working before Amazon threw up their geo fence.

Me too, Plex is part of the plan

Could you enlighten us with one or two of these “challenges” in order to help us better understand these delays?
It doesn’t seem to me it’s the skill itself that’s being held up… but all red tape from lame Canadian laws/policies/etc. Or is it something completely different?

Nothing to do with French. AFAIK Quebec won’t even get French support out of the box. This is purely an English deployment for now.

Certification is essentially a really really in-depth QA process and even quite small bugs/corner case issues can cause cert to fail. With the deploy we’re currently trying to push we’ve added Canada, India, and Australia. This adds 3 additional certification certification runs through the entire skill (on top of the US and UK versions we already have). Different runs might be done by different people and they might test different portions of the skill. So a longer turnaround on feedback combined with very very detailed testing and very strict requirements on what can and can’t ship are causing the holdup. We’re meeting with our Alexa contact this week to discuss these challenges.
I’m sorry, but that makes no sense, you already passed certification for the US skill which is in English anyways, and the skill did work in the past before the geofence went up, so please forgive my simple understanding of this, but if you are failing certification in Canada, wouldn’t it be the same for the US? It’s the same skill, doing the exact same thing. Can you elaborate on the items that “cannot” be shipped to Canada? This is completely ludicrous. All this skill does is give Alex the ability to play stuff that is on our own personal servers, who is blocking you the CRTC or Amazon, i’d like to know so that we all can submit complaints directly to them.
The cert process is via Amazon.
Which means what? We’re waiting on Amazon to launch it?
Can you please give us a detail list of the items that cannot be shipped to Canada?
I think vanstinator gave pretty detailed explanation. I only regret that it came 4 months later. To me it seems like a lack of resources and different priorities. I am not sure what kind of ambitious release Plex was planning, but I’d definitely preferred to have something earlier than nothing later. Even my Vizio TV now got Alexa integration in addition to Google Assistant. At this point I don’t care as much anymore. I play music with Spotify and Netflix via TV. I can get off my ass and use a remote once in a while. If i had a monthly Plex subscription I’d probably let it lapse now.

It looks like the Plex Skill can be enabled in Canada, but the LINK ACCOUNT text link in setup doesn’t seem to work! Almost there but we died before we hit the finish line!

I just tried enabling and linking my account and it worked. Still have to test out the skill itself.
Finally we have this skill in Canada
