Enable HD Audio and full copy Sync for music above 320kbps such as 24 bit / 96 kHz or 16/44.1

Lossless syncing to an iphone isn’t supported currently (highest quality is 320). I’d like to be able to sync lossless as I don’t want to transcode.

+1; highly supported. Otherwise real music enthusiasts can’t really use Plex, since there is always transcoding happening

Conversion to a lower bit depth and/or sampling rate (minimum 16bit/44kHz) would be acceptable but not preferred. FLAC > ALAC format storage.

Where are we on this request? TIDAL is able to accomplish it so it doesn’t seem a technical limitation.

I really would like to see this as well. I signed up for Plex Pass a few months ago, assuming it worked this way! But cancelled when I found out you can’t actually download/sync lossless for offline listening.

Too bad, I got a big fat microSD for it and everything. What’s goofy is if I just stream to my LG G6, I can Direct Stream ALAC. But if I sync/download, it converts it to AAC. Pretty weird.

Bumping this - what’s the current situation on this? I’ve asked in a couple of threads and had no response from mods.

Anyone advise?

Thanks

I just created a new thread for this very topic. What is infuriating is so far I haven’t seen any responses from Plex staff explaining why this feature still isn’t available after all this time. Would enabling lossless support on music syncing really cost so much in work hours/resources? I was about to cancel my Amazon Music Unlimited HD sub thinking I could just use Plex. Guess I’ll have to cancel my Plex Pass…

While I completely sympathize with this suggestion, is this still an issue for sure? I just synced a lossless CD album (ripped to FLAC) which took ≈ 0,3 GB on the phone, as expected. Is there a more sure-fire way to know if syncs are lossless or not? Like stats display? Apart from, you know, just listening in

Me pasa algo parecido pero con las peliculas también. Quiero sincronizar en mi smartphone una pelicula con la calidad original y ademas de tardar mucho, siempre me hace como un “transcoding” alguien sabe a que es debido ?

Gracias

Many of us have extensive lossless music libraries. I would like the ability to stream my library without murdering my mobile data cap. Please add the ability to control music streaming quality settings!

Why limit it to Android devices? Let’s have the ability to transcode any and all library’s regardless of the end device?

I completely agree. I thought the feature was available to iOS users. Apologies for my ignorance. This should be a feature available to all.

This feature is absolutely necessary on mobile and quite frankly, it’s ridiculous that it isn’t already there. Not just for saving on data but also being able to actually listen to music when on low-bandwidth connection.

Seconded. This would vastly improve my Plex experience at work. No throttling, but many people using the interwebs at the same time slows streaming of high quality media down significantly.

please. I use plex for everything else. I want to be able to feesably use my music library on the go. I beg you, bring this feature to the android app asap. thank you! -A loyal user-

With all of Plex’s greatness, I was surprised that this wasn’t already implemented. Please make it happen.

Ditto all the above.

Yes Please. This is the only reason I never use Plex in my car as I’ve media encoded anywhere between 128kbps mp3 to full on WAV file. Windows Store (Windows 10 Pro) app has this functionality - why not Android?

+1. I would like to have the option to transcode music the same way it does for video, not only on mobile data (drop down menu while playing music?). On my local gym they have wifi and it sucks for trying to stream my flacs. It is still better than murder my mobile data for listening to music.
Amazon Music works awesome in the gym wifi (prolly due lower bitstream), trying to get plex to play my flacs without transcoding just doesn’t work.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. Keep hitting that like button so we can get this feature added!
