My initial launch of any game works great (iOS and AppleTV) but if I want to change games I have to force quit the “Plex Game Transcoder” in the task manager every single time. Anyone have any feedback on this?
Seems to be situational in my case. I can play most 8bit and 16bit games just fine. I can play a SNES game, close/quit the game then start a Genesis game, then close/quit that and start a NES game. I’m guessing the transcoder stays running but it has no issue switching between games. My problem is when I try to run MAME. I haven’t been able to run a single MAME rom (CPS1, CPS2, Neo-Geo, etc). When I do the screen stays black with no sound but the game transcoder is running. If I close/quit one of those games the transcoder stays running and I can’t play anything else until I go into Task Manager and force-close it.
I’ve seen some people say that the transcoder hanging issue, or the black screen issue could be due to some sort of hardware incompatibility, but our server has a pair of very capable Xeon processors and a GTX 1050Ti, both capable of running MAME games easily. So I don’t know.
I’m running everything on a brand new rebuild with an Intel 8 core i7 10th gen and a GTX-950 so capability is not an issue. The problem is the Game Transcoder task does not quit even after the game play is stopped, the Plex client closed and even the client hardware turned off.
