Enhanced photo slideshow functionality // mod: repeat slideshow

Hi There,

I am using my Plex for android TV for a photo slideshow, but have found the player functionality to be limiting. I am proposing the following functionality that may be available plex player for other platforms, but not the android version:

1- Option to repeat the slideshow when all photos have been displayed
2- Option to set the timeout between photos [mod-edit: duplicate]
3- Transition effects [mod-edit: duplicate]
4- Option to either select one photo to display or to display all the photos in the folder as a slideshow. [mod-edit: implemented on select clients (support for more clients → duplicate]
5- Option to add background music to the slideshow [mod-edit: duplicate]

Setup Plex in the hope it would finally give me a decent app to display slideshows from my Media Server on my LG TV. It doesn’t and agree 100% with the recommendations here for an actual, functional slideshow. However I see from the forums that Plex has been ignoring this for nearly a decade, so I’ll be binning Plex.
IOS app Random Slideshow lets you set the speed of the show, background colour and transition and is the best option I have found.

Most Plex apps have this. I don’t understand why the Android app has gone so long without it.

I am attempting to move away from Kodi which I have had for many years over to google TV. One BIG part is Plex to bring me my local content. And a BIG part of that are the photos.

I also would like to see better functions in the slideshow. It’s pretty bland and is really just a ‘page through my photos’ app without standard features like planning, blurred backgrounds, nicely displaying specific info (Like title pulled of EXIF) and so on.

Just look at a decent slideshow app out there to see a list of features Plex should consider. Until then, I (unfortunately) am using an Android App and have to upload photos to Google Photos :-(.

I have found that the app on Roku TV’s have this functionality, not sure why they would be so different. We had some timing out issues with that version though, YMMV.
