  • 10sec backward jump only works sometimes, instead it brings the menu down. 10sec forward Jump works normal.
  • Plex tvos 1.36 crashs very often.
  • Direct Play works okay, but there is absolulty no buffering. When jumping forward or backward, the old player with e.g. 60sec. buffering is faster.

what Apple TV model and tvOS version do you use when you experience those symptoms?

I just tested the experimental player. For me the video stutters slightly very often and looks a bit choppy, especially during heavy movement, pan shots etc. The playback with the ‘old’ player is much smoother (no stutter at all with the same files).

I tested with an Apple TV 4K, tvOS 12.1.1. The files were either MKV or MP4, h264, 1080p, direct play (or direct stream for the old player).

I definitely prefer the old player for now, but have high hopes for the new one.

TVOS 12.1 with ATV4 and ATV4K

Backward jump problem only with ATV4K, no problem with ATV4.
Crashs only with 4k, I used the ATV4 not long enough to make a statement.
Smoother jumping with the old player on both ATV versions.
