For every series I added to my Watchlist, I went in and marked specific episodes/seasons as watched, leaving the unwatched stuff marked as such.
Immediately, each and every one of those shows disappeared from my Watchlist entirely. I reloaded the page, restarted the Plex server, etc., just to see if I could get it to re-display those, but nothing I’ve tried (thus far) has worked to resurface them.
Despite adding about a dozen shows to my Watchlist, and leaving episodes from most of them “unwatched”, the only show which appears is the one I haven’t even begun watching yet.
Edit: Perhaps the reason for this: marking any prior episodes as “Watched” seems to remove the entire series from my Watchlist. I went back and searched for a series (The Blacklist), and found the “Add To Watchlist” button there, as though I had not previously clicked that. So… perhaps consider this thread a beta bug report? Are others experiencing this, or is it unique to my setup? Thanks!
Your entire Watchlist is located in your Home section. Marking something as Played from your Watchlist is working as expected, though with Seasons and Episodes there is more work to be done as you’ve found out. Thanks for reporting.
I just want to make sure you saw my “Edit:” above, that marking any prior episodes as played removes the entire series from my Watchlist. I am guessing that’s not your intention nor expectation, and am happy to help troubleshoot if you’re having trouble replicating that on your end. It is happening 100% here.
Shows should no longer be removed from your Watchlist when marking Episodes or Seasons as Played. We have more plans for Watchlist and the other features that were released today.
Sweet! I can confirm that marking an episode as played no longer results in that show being removed.
As for new features, is one of them going to be something which highlights which episode of any given series we should watch next? And perhaps with that, a way to see only shows which have unwatched episodes?
I agree it would be great if a show on the watch list would “disappear” when the last episode is watched, but come back when a new episode is available. It would also be nice if an episode that is watched - is marked as watched regardless of the server/source. That would also be nice for movies as well. I mean once something is watched, it is watched regardless of source right?
Just to manage some expectations here, from our coverage of the Apple/streaming market over the years, we’ve learned that some (many?) streaming providers don’t allow third party access to their watch lists. Netflix is one, for sure, who doesn’t allow this, and I bet there are others. Wouldn’t surprise me if Apple doesn’t allow this, too, but maybe?
Anyway, my point is that this is not universally available (and is the reason you don’t get this in the Apple TV “Up Next” feature for Netflix shows, etc)
