EPG fails to update

Mine has been having the same issue with not loading EPG data. I have 2 HDhomerun extend with 41 and 35 channels detected and 28 channels on each enabled. I do not have the “Enable more frequent program guide refreshes” turned on. I’m running version 1.12.0.4829 for windows. I just forced a manual update and watching to see if it will work but i never had that box checked and it was not doing it automatically.

Ok after a forced refresh it did update and move 4 days ahead. I will keep an eye on it and see if it maintains staying ahead. I just wanted to let you know that mine was not updating and i was not over 300 + channels and I also did not have that check box marked and i was having the issue as well.

Hello-
Where does one manually update the EPG or erase EPG data and start over?

Mine has been slowing going to 10% and stays there for a day. Updating WD plex server, HDHomeRun, rebooting everything has no effect. It has been like this for nearly a month! I can’t even get “delete DVR” to work. Plex pops up an error…maybe since it’s trying to update the EPG automatically?

Are there any news?
EPG updating is still failing:

The cloudflare rate limiting issue with EPG updates is still being worked on and a change is expected to be released in a future version of Plex Media Server.

Okay, I just wondered because I read all the time that this issue will happen for users with more than 200 active channels, my DVR only has 110 active channels.

There are two separate issues both giving rise to JSON Parse Errors but the detail is different

  1. A Gracenote issue affecting users with high number of channels
  2. A Cloudflare error on refresh that may arise more if the more frequent EPG updates option is selected

The Gracenote EPG update issue affecting users with 300+ channels has been resolved by Gracenote.

This now leaves only the CloudFlare issue, which is being worked on.
The changes of the problem arising would be reduced by ensuring DVR Setting Enable more frequent program guide refreshes is unticked

One issue i have been seeing consistently is even when i remove the problem channels and get the epg to do a refresh, it seems like alot of data is missing and i have 190 out of 286 channels enabled

A problem has just come to light with the gracenote data for programme icons. A fix is being worked on. This may well be that issue. is it just the icons that are missing?

Mine has started doing this again. I only have data until March 30. I have forced a refresh and still it is not advancing any further. I have the latest update. 1.12.1.4885 that was push about a week ago. Any suggestions on how to get this to download more current EPG? The allow for more frequent downloads has been off as well this whole time.

if you can upload logs with debug logging after server restart and an EPG refresh that does not advance with screenshot - then I can see which issue this is

See https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/

is this the good log files? i’ve got the same problem with a fresh install of plex. Tryed to remove and reinstall DVR multiple of time… never worked. I only have 21 channel…

Is there any update to this issue? My EPG isn’t updating at all. I have shutdown/restarted the PMS (even rebooted my PC) and have even deleted the epg file from the plugins-support folder.

Please Help!

Is this still an issue ?
The logs show some overlapping scans using variation on post code. Not sure if this had a bearing. For example one scan with post code of h1x was still in progress when a new one was made - Will discuss this overlapping activities with the development team - but try to allow 20 second gap between scan attempts to avoid overlap. I see you did in the end enter the h1x1h3 code which would be the right syntax.

Would like to make some of these requests using curl but it is possible that the DVR identifier has changed since the logs were updated. eg if deleted and setup afresh. Would need new logs to see what the syntax of the curl requests would be

The requests that i would like you to do with curl would be similar to these

curl --request POST "http://127.0.0.1:32400/livetv/dvrs?device=device%3A%2F%2Ftv.plex.grabbers.hdhomerun%2F10521EEE&lineup=lineup%3A%2F%2Ftv.plex.providers.epg.onconnect%2FCAN-OTAH1X1H3%23Local%2520Over%2520the%2520Air%2520Broadcast&language=fre&country=can&X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxx" -o "%LocalAppData%\Request1.txt"

curl "http://127.0.0.1:32400/media/grabbers/devices/1/channels?X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxx" -o "%LocalAppData%\Request2.txt"

It would probably be best get fresh logs after doing a scan and please only do it with the full post code with no spaces and if you repeat it - allow some time between scans

From the fresh logs i can work out what the device id is for the curl request

The server token can be found through steps here
https://support.plex.tv/articles/204059436-finding-an-authentication-token-x-plex-token/

for curl.exe see curl - Download

further to my earlier response, did the scanner say it only found 21 and that was the list from which you would select channels? screenshot?

I understand it could also be antenna / signal strength / placement issue

I have this problem too. EPG not updating. Restarted service multiple times. Deleted tv.providers.epg.onconnect* from /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases. Then reboot. No luck

Deleted DVR and re-set up. EPG will not update. Sometimes it will get stuck at 3%, other time won’t get past zero.

Please advise of the solution to this issue. Currently PlexDVR is broken.

I have the same issue since the last server update? I have tried multiple postal codes, even nearby zip codes, nothing. I’ve restarted and deleted epg files multiple times, nothing. Very disappointed in plex with the weak responses being given, something is wrong with the server.

Server logs would help identify if there is a common cause

For Canada enter full post code with no space

could be some timeouts.

Don’t know if there is an issue with requests to gracenote from Canada

could you try setup without doing many post code variations. Just the full post code with no space character and do the setup after restarting the server and get fresh logs
