Wrote a script and put it in my cron to run nightly at 1am:
Attached as file because of formatting.
This will work on unix based versions as long as they meet the specs of where the files are and the names of the files are the same. I run on Fedora, so this will run perfectly on Fedora. Just put this in my cron.
0 1 * * * /root/scripts/refresh_epg.sh
This will move the old epg files to a *.old name, and then stop plex media server. Then it will wait 10 seconds, and start it back up. I don’t have any recordings at 1am, so I chose 1am to run this in my crontab.
Upgraded to 1.12.0.4829, and my guide data still is not working, I mean this is a pretty seriously critical issue am I wrong, how has this not been addressed as of yet?
Same here, still not working after the 1.12 update.
Kind of weird, but mine seems to have fixed itself, I just tested, one odd thing is it jumped from 0% to 3%, which it had never done before, but it seems to be functioning, leaving my script in place for now, but I will continue to test it and let you know my results.
My EPG has not updated in over a week. It starts to update, but stops before it downloads any new listings. I have tried the advise from another thread to unselect the option to perform more frequent updates and I only have 77 channels selected. Has anyone made any further progress on getting this problem fixed? I still have listings through March 15th, but after that the DVR function becomes useless. In another thread, there was a comment about problems with Grace Note. Has this problem been resolved?
I had to delete the databases for a few weeks there to get it to refresh. Just today, i did a manual refresh in the GUI and it miraculously worked. I’m guessing there was something in the EPG data that made it choke. And eventually that rolled off and the last database delete/refresh got a clean build. Didn’t see anything in the release notes regarding this so I’m assuming it’s not fixed and I still have to monitor the EPG to make sure it’s getting new data.

I think you are right mine is also working, but I have noticed in the program guide not every channel has an image either, but the downloads appear to work at least.
After more than a week of failed updates to the EPG, today Plex updated completely. Whatever was done, it seems to have fixed my problems.
I spoke too soon when I indicated the problems are fixed. The EPG updated again today, but most of the updated programs have no description or image displayed. Selecting a program also produces a blank description and image. Looks like the problem still needs work.
Mine is the same way a lot of channels have the channel name, and the program that is on right now, but images, and descriptions are missing, but at least the EPG load is not failing, and my DVR seems to be picking up the shows properly, it is a good start.
This morning, the epg has added another five days and looks normal with images and full details. Maybe this time it’s finally fixed.
As of right now Grey’s Anatomy tonight is not recording even though there is indeed an episode on tonight. This EPG thing is a pain, how can I fix this? I am not getting the recordings I want and on top of that it is not reliable at all. I don’t have a DVR, this is my one stop solution. When will onconnect EPG data be fixed?
This issue started here last night with partial listings.
Today, nothing.
Thanks to @Havok115 for the cron script workaround!
That has my live TV back in order.
Still need a true fix for this though.
This helped me tonight:
root@havokmedia:/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server$ systemctl stop plexmediaserver
root@havokmedia:/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server$ rm -rf Plug-ins/
root@havokmedia:/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server$ systemctl start plexmediaserver
