I deleted my DVR and re-added, it seems to be getting guide data again, however it is not finished loading yet, and I will update if it continues to be problematic.

I’m seeing a similar JSON parse error on a new install of 1.11.1.4760 in a fresh Ubuntu 16.04 container(I started a clean install to test if failed recordings were being caused by an oddity of my old install). The initial guide load works but the daily or a manual update fails. I’d also noted unexpected generic guide data and logged failures on my old install.

You can see a guide refresh attempt starting at 00:25:00 in the attached log.

Same for me, I can’t update my guide. I should mention I am on Fedora 27.

Initial load after deleting my HDHomeRun Prime and re-installing it worked fine, but now it will not update at all.

Same json error. Tried disabling channel in the error message but didn’t fix it. Deleted DVR and re-added it. This allowed for EPG to update and grab new data… Not sure if this will recur.

LordKainan, try to download the epg again, see if it updates or stops almost immediately. Mine is not updating atm, so in 2 weeks I will have to delete my DVR and start again.

I am also experiencing this problem - when i try to re-download the EPG is stops immediately. the EPG parse error shows in the logs. FWIW - I am on Win10.

If i delete my DVR and resinstall, will this lose all of my shows that i have set to record?

Same error for me, would love a fix. Deleting DVR ever couple weeks is a crappy solution! You won’t lose the shows you want to record, but its a pain.

Yea, you’re right. It has the same issue after re-setting up the DVR. It’s not a great solution to keep having to delete it and re-setup but at least a temporary solution until Plex can resolve it. Thankfully the scheduled recordings are kept after deleting the tuner.

NO, all your shows you have configured to record will still be configured, I had to go into each of them and just re-save them, but it does keep the recording schedule in tact.

I have found a fix, at least for comcast. My issue was the music channels. I noticed this because mine was failing at 1% and for some reason channel number 910, “MC10”, was first on the list. Unchecking it got me past 1% but failed when it hit the rest, so I just got rid of all of them.

Under the DVR settings, click on the “XXX channels enabled” link to manage channels. Uncheck all the “MCXX” channels. I also unchecked all the radio stations after, but I don’t know if that is necessary.

Tried the MC Channels, mine are not 900 though they are 700 range channels, still same error. New release today does not fix the problem either.

First one in my list is Channel 002, CBS, and when disabled, it then errors on 003, and then 005, this does not seem to fix my issue.

Same problem here. EPG will not update and is throwing similar log entries. I’d rather not have to delete/add the DVR. I have Comcast and none of the music channels have ever been selected.

Wife and kids are home tomorrow for a snow day. I hope this gets resolved soon.

None of the recording schedule will go away if you delete and re-add, but your custom channels will be set back to original. I am not sure where the problem is here, hope they get this worked out soon.

Something else you can do if you do not want to delete and re-add the DVR, quoted from another thread and this works for me as well.

This what I am doing for now when I need to force the guide refresh (instead of deleting the dvr devices):
Dir Path: cd /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases

sudo mv tv.plex.providers.epg.onconnect-dd669cd0-2b52-4a74-9dd7-5593091ecf9e.db tv.plex.providers.epg.onconnect-dd669cd0-2b52-4a74-9dd7-5593091ecf9e.db.old

sudo mv tv.plex.providers.epg.onconnect-dd669cd0-2b52-4a74-9dd7-5593091ecf9e.db-shm tv.plex.providers.epg.onconnect-dd669cd0-2b52-4a74-9dd7-5593091ecf9e.db-shm.old

sudo mv tv.plex.providers.epg.onconnect-dd669cd0-2b52-4a74-9dd7-5593091ecf9e.db-wal tv.plex.providers.epg.onconnect-dd669cd0-2b52-4a74-9dd7-5593091ecf9e.db-wal.old

sudo systemctl restart plexmediaserver.service

After the application is done restarting it will force the refresh like if you had deleted the dvr devices. If we don’t get a fix soon, I will probably end adding this to a script and removing the .old version

Thanks Havok, that seems to be working for me. (Windows) I stopped PMS, renamed those three files. (GUIDs were of course different) Started up PMS. The three files were regenerated and the EPG is being refreshed. At least with this method the channel lineup doesn’t need to be re-done.
