When watching a TV series on shuffle, it becomes annoying to see half-played episodes in ‘continue watching’. In this example, I never intended to watch the episodes in chronological order; so suggesting that I ‘continue’ to watch the episodes in chronological order is unhelpful.
This manifests when a user shuffles the same series multiple times over several viewing sessions. Any unwatched portion of an episode is queued for ‘continue’, and marking an episode watched is an exercise in futility as there are likely many more half-played episodes underneath in the UI. Then, when a half-played episode is caught in shuffle (or queued manually), Plex picks up at the unwatched portion, regardless of time since last pause.
I think Plex server should distinguish between plays queued from shuffle, from any other form of queueing. The recorded duration of a watched episode played via shuffle should be discarded when playback stops (ie., mark episode as watched).
