Error Code h4 (codec) and workaround

During the last several months/PMS versions (Windows), I’ve been fighting with the annoying “Error Code h4 (codec)” when casting to chromecast.
In case somebody else has this issue, here’s the only workaround I found.

Basically, what I noticed is that if you create a new movie/TV library (and that unfortunately means scanning again all of your files), everything goes back to normal on the new library.
Obviously, recreating the library each time is a HUGE pain, beacuse you loose all your watched/unwatched statuses. So what I did is install the trakt extension, which synchronizes all library data with my trakt account, so when I create a new library, I don’t loose anything. The whole process takes about 10 minutes (that depends on your library size, of course).
It’s still a major pain, but for me it’s either this or abandon Plex completely (and I’m not ready to do that, yet).
I had to do perform this procedure 5 times in the last 6 months (on different PMS versions). Not sure if it’s related to PMS upgrades or something else.
