Error "Not Authorized" when launching Plex on a synology NAS

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6151
Player Version#:

Description:
My initial Plex server was running for several years on an Nvidia Shield. The Shield died some months ago and I wanted to re-install Plex on my synology NAS.

I have downloaded the package and installed it from the NAS package center. Everything went fine but now, when launching Plex from the NAS, I get the Error: “Not Authorized”

I suppose that this is because my Plex license is still seen by Plex website as being attached to the dead Nvidia Shield

What would be the process to correct this error?

Thank you by advance
Laurent

  • Are your workstation on the same IP Net as your Synology ?
  • Are both running Private Address Space ?
    • 10.0. 0.0 - 10.255. 255.255 (10.0. 0.0/8 prefix)
    • 172.16. 0.0 - 172.31. 255.255 (172.16. 0.0/12 prefix)
    • 192.168. 0.0 - 192.168. 255.255 (192.168. 0.0/16 prefix)
  • If you browse to http://<IP_OF_SYNO>:32400/identity does it show claimed="0" ?

Hello Dane,

Yes, they are both on the same private IP (192.168.1.0/24).
Yes, if I browse to http://192.168.1.151:32400/identity, then I see <MediaContainer size=“0” claimed=“0” machineIdentifier=" …followed by my machine identifier and the version number

If so your PMS is not claimed.

Try another browser, or use incognito mode, and browse to http://192.168.1.151:32400/web

Then you might get a warning, but accept that, and hopefully you will be asked to logon to plex.tv, followed by a claiming of your server

I could logon using my plex username/password but when clicking on “Sign In”, another page started to load (http://192.168.1.151:32400/web/index.html#!/setup/3377e5b7fa8836890746ef6346bd674cb30f4533) but never finished loading.

I tried it from Chrome and Firefox in normal mode and in Incognito.

That’s the setup Vizard

When it fails to load, try and hit reload in the browser

Is this DSM 6 or DSM 7?
