Error: Unable to update to 1.40.x

Server Version#: v1.40.2.8395-c67dce28e

I just tried updating from v1.32.8.7639 it is now crashing on startup after 1.40.x update

v1.40.2.8395 LOG: Plex Media Server.1.log (1.7 KB)

Edit: rolled back to v1.40.1.8227. Server loads now but just says “Something went wrong
An unexpected error occurred.” or “No content available”

v1.40.1.8227 LOG: Plex Media Server.log (273.1 KB)

That indicates a corrupt database.

You have installed the Plex server on drive D:, but your plex data folder is still on drive C:
It doesn’t make much sense to move the installation folder away from C. In fact, I wouldn’t recommend it.
If your drive C: is almost filled, you urgently need to move the Plex data folder someplace else, but installing Plex server into a different location is not the right method.

How much free space do you have now on drive C:?

I just downgraded to v1.32.8.7639 and it’s working

I don’t have it installed on drive D. D: is mapped to a DVD drive on this system. 219GB free on C:

Sorry, then I was misled.
Unfortunately your logs are almost useless, because you don’t have debug logging in the server settings activated.

I recommend you to use this .bat file to perform a thorough repair of your database: GitHub - ChuckPa/PlexDBRepair: Database repair utility for Plex Media Server databases

Then try to update again, but let it sit this time. If your collection is very large, the database upgrade may take several hours. See: Plex Media Server - #623 by gbooker02

I enabled debug logging and I ran PlexDBRepair, it returned no errors: PlexDBRepair.log (880 Bytes)

Installed v1.40.2.8395 again and it crashed after the DB upgrade. Here is the log from the initial startup: Plex Media Server.log (38.3 KB)

Log after trying to restart it: Plex Media Server.log (7.7 KB)

I’m betting you restored from a database backup without removing the wal files.

Nothing has worked so far. I’ll be sticking with v1.32.8.7639 for the foreseeable future I guess.

Thought I would give the latest version a try: “1.40.3.8555-fef15d30c”

Upon update I got a message saying I had a corrupt database, so I ran the latest PlexDBRepair, the repair completes successfully, then it says this:

Jun 19, 2024 21:11:14.622 [19384] ERROR - Exception inside transaction (inside=1) (D:\gha\plex-media-server\plex-media-server\Library\DatabaseMigrations.cpp:342): Null value not allowed for this type
Jun 19, 2024 21:11:14.624 [19384] ERROR - Exception thrown during migrations, aborting: Null value not allowed for this type
Jun 19, 2024 21:11:14.624 [19384] ERROR - Database corruption: Null value not allowed for this type

Luckily installing version “1.32.8.7639-fb6452ebf” still works. Any ideas? I would really like to get the latest stable PMS working.
