Error while decoding stream #0:1: No space left on device in 1.30.1.6497

Server Version#: 1.30.1.6497
Player Version#: Happens on any client that is transcoding that I have tested.

Running this in docker on Unraid (plexinc image)
With the upgrade to 1.30.1.6497 and transcoding to remote client I now get this error and audio gets all screwed up. Works fine in 1.29.2.6364-6d72b0cf6. No other changes made and should be no space issues

Tmp is on an SSD with 50GB free space and again works fine in 1.29 so it’s not a space issue
I also can see it writing files in the transcode directory so it’s writing the ts files.

Seems to only do it when the truehd 7.1 audio version is selected - ac3 5.1 does not have this issue

I’m running the Linuxserver image on my Unraid system and I had the same error but my issue was the intro detection was stuck (which uses the easy audio encoder). I was using a ramdisk that I know had enough space.

I deleted the ramdisk, moved my transcode to /dev/shm, and deleted the easy audio encoder from my codecs folder and rebooted the server. Haven’t had an issue since. I imagine it’s a codec issue as those happen from time to time, requiring the deleting of the contents of the codecs folder.

I had tried that some time ago while trying the betas and no luck but will try again. That’s for the idea.

I started seeing the exact same errors after I upgraded to 1.30.0.6486 on Windows yesterday. Posted about it in Reddit last night here.

Audio on the two movies I was seeing this on were TrueHD 5.1, not 7.1. One was H.264, the other was VC1.

Re-installed 1.29.2.6364 and the crashes are all gone.

Thank you for posting this. I have been having the same issue. I see it when trying to watch a 4k UHD movie. Since the 4k UHD movie was the only one of that quality I had, I thought it was my setup until I saw this post. I will try downgrading.

Confirmed downgrading to 1.29.2.6364 resolved my issue. The issue was easy to reproduce when watching “IT Chapter TWO - 4k UHD”. Withing the first 10min, I would get the circular spinner on the client and errors in the logs in the server.

I too am seeing this with Plex 1.30 builds, on TrueNAS Scale using ixSystem’s “official” chart.
4K UHD + TrueHD 7.1 plays audio for a random length then audio dies with this error on the log

Same problem here. Posted in the german section:

Also having the same issue but I’m having it transcoding or not. It’s actually worse with Direct Play. Where are the official old versions of Plex hosted?

Started noticing this today after a user mentioned being unable to watch a couple different things.

On Ubuntu 22.04 using linuxserver.io docker container.

Only seems to be running into this on some files - most streams seem unaffected.

There is a bug transcoding TrueHD audio in Plex Media Server 1.30 and 1.31.

The workaround is to fall back to 1.29.2.
