ESPN3 Plugin "Beta"

$ promised as soon as it works, my friend.

whodean, FYI, the plugin was updated on Saturday. Please let me know if it is not working for you.

Bravo!

Updating Flash to the latest version seemed to fix the problem of hanging at the “opening stream” popup for me.

I had the plugin hanging at the “opening stream” popup yesterday while trying to watch college football. Plex is the latest version and manually checked for plugin updates and it said all were up to date. Today I opened Safari and went the watchespn website and when trying to watch a live game I saw a Flash error. I went and downloaded the lastest Flash player, 10.3.something, and videos on the website played. Restarted Plex and the ESPN3 plugin got past the “opening stream” popup but did hold at the spinning red circle for probably two minutes before finally playing the stream.

Is there any support for the picture in picture like you can do on the website?

stupid question, but can this plugin pull cookie/cache information from either safari or chrome to detect when “remote access” is setup on the espn3/watchespn site? i am able to access espn3 content by using remote access (my provider doesn’t support espn3 unfortunately, so i use my parent’s login information since their service provider supports espn3).

my plex client/server are both on my 2010 mac mini.

thanks!

Answered in the 'User' Thread... This is the 'Developer' Thread, and no need to ask in both places anyway.

Looks like there may be problems with Laika.

I am definitely am excited to start using this plugin! It was one of the few things that kept me using Boxee.

It looks like espn go now supports multiple channels/networkIds.

I peeked at the python source and it currently uses the following url to request the live shows

http://espn.go.com/espn3/feeds/live

Referencing the XBMC plugin, more channels can be probed by using the following url request

http://espn.go.com/watchespn/feeds/startup?action=live&channel=espn1,espn2,espn3,espnu,goalline

I did notice very minor differences in the xml schema

Currently, the plugin only supports espn3 (as indicated by the plugin name :P). It doesn’t seem like it would take much more to support multiple networks

I am particularly interested because espn1 live broadcasts SporctsCenter live.

Are there any plans to support more channels?

I’m willing to contribute to testing and/or development (according to my competency anyway)

I might be daft, but I don’t see where to install this channel/app.

I have

Linux Plex Media Server

MacBook Plex Client

Android Plex Client

iOS Plex Client

Win7 Plex Client

I have no way to develop this further. “WatchESPN” is limited to TW, BrightHouse, and Verizon FIOS…

I did have a quick look though, and if you or anyone has access to those ISPs try these:

ESPN1

ESPN2

Let me know if they work at all in your browser, and I’ll try and add them to the channel.

Yes I have BrightHouse for ESPN 1, 2, and 3. I use this from iphone app and from my computer’s browser, I just don’t know how they work inside of plex?

Were you able to get those links I posted to work in your browser???
And do they link to the appropriate live show?

I have no idea "how they work inside of plex" either... I only have access to ESPN3.

The download link there isn’t working

I’ve validated that I have access to all the channels on my Internet Service. I only had access through the xmbc plugin

I have AT&T U-verse and no TV plan included. This is not included on their “about” page.

The complete list of ISPs allowed to view ESPN3 (and nothing else) at http://espn.go.com/watchespn/affList

The following have access to all the channesl

TW, BrightHouse, and Verizon FIOS

Note that the different ISPs may have different levels of access (i.e channels) and may also be dependent on bundling a TV package with your internet service plan

As mentioned earlier, I’m willing to help out with development and/or testing.

Both linked work for me in my browser. I have comcast cable.
Where is your plug in beta for download so i can check on my lg st600

I cannot get the ESPN3 plugin to work. I’m using the latest version of PMS, my Roku XDS is up to date, and I’m on OS X Mountain Lion. Capability checking is disabled.

I can watch just about any Plex channel, can stream local content no problem, but ESPN3 just doesn’t work. I can get the list of games and select them, but when I click on Play, the screen goes black except for the name of the game I’m trying to stream, it says “retrieving” at the bottom of the screen but never successfully loads. Then it finally says “Video Unavailable.”

I’ve tried resetting everything, changing playback options, the whole nine yards. Any suggestions?

EDIT: I should say that I have Xfinity/Comcast and have no problems watching ESPN3 or WatchESPN on my computer.

Hello,

I have an issue similar to treycausey. I can watch ESPN3/WatchESPN on my browsers but when I go to PLEX it always come up with “this programming is only available to customers of select… Choose your Provider:…” I tried restarting the server but no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks,
