Extend Sync Watch History Between Servers

Hey team!

While we all love the Sync between devices…

Person A has a very (very) large content pool.
Person B has access to Person A’s server.
Person B has issues streaming a specific file due to issues with the network, so Person B decides to procure the content themselves.

Now, both Person A and Person B have the same files on both servers. While the files themselves *may have different names, Plex Media Server still recognizes the same file ID using it’s agents.

This is not synced between servers. Which in turn can clog up the “Continue Watching” selections to include both servers.

The solution would likely be to continue on the last server selected. Possibly an addition to the “…” Menu to be able to select the “Preferred Server”.

Plex DocumentationSync Watch State and Ratings

The watch state & ratings are synchronized among servers to which you have access and with Plex’s online streaming services. Synchronization runs when Plex Media Server starts and then at 30 minute intervals.

There are prerequisites. See the “Getting Started” section of the documentation. You may also need to refresh the metadata on the servers to make sure the media IDs on the servers match what is in Plex’s database.
