External Library listing

I would like Plex to show my entire library by including movies I own on other providers. If i want to watch one, Plex could launch the URL to that content (but not handle streaming). This way I can see movies I already own, even though it’s hosted somewhere else.

Example: I own movies on Vudu, I just want to have them shown in my library, but not stream them via Plex. Without this feature I have to move back and forth between vendors to know what’s in my ‘total’ library. Plex would be great to highlight and showcase which movies I own regardless of where the movies are “stored”

An automated listing would be awesome (e.g. Plex reads data directly from the vendor), but a minimal approach might be to have a local file that identifies the movie, and allow Plex be able to launch a URL link to the vendors content instead of trying to stream the content – that would be straightforward to implement?

Again it would be a challenge to have Plex stream from another vendor, that’s not the request.

Every now and then this kind of requests pop up.
Those other providers don’t offer any tools or APIs for 3rd parties to integrate their catalog. There’s seemingly ways, few of them are legal. What might not be pursued for an individual will definitely not be tolerated if it’s attempted by another company.

Therefore…
duplicate suggestion as well as same as for most of those other threads (even if you “shy away” from asking Plex to play the 3rd party videos themselves)… that’s not going to happen
