External library without using an API

I want to have movies shown in my library, without any need to interface with any other vendor. Plex could also allow me to keep a my own manually set custom URL and let me point to that content. All this could be kept locally via xml / metadata. simple. That way I can browse my library on Plex, essentially having a local bookmark with content I know I own, but also have the movie poster, other metadata etc. Plex does a great job in managing a library, showing the actors, other such data.

My prior suggestion was closed, seems the moderator may have not read the suggestion close enough --as many have suggested Plex use some type of API, obviously that’s problematic to interface with some other vendor like Netflix (never going to happen). I’m suggestion more along the lines of library a local reference with some custom attributes.

It’s possible I could get halfway there just by having local zero byte files using the known movie title (so it shows up in the library, in theory). So my idea is really just to add a custom URL property, where Title, Sort Title, Tags Poster are set. When present Plex would could suggest navigation using my manually set URL when prompted (nice to have, without relying on anything, zero API required).
