In addition to Plex, I would like to register links to other sites that host content.
Show all the features a movie would normally have (Posters, metadata, etc.) but instead of playing the movie a URL would be displayed with a way to copy the URL.
I do not expect Plex to actually open up the link though if I am in a web browser that would make sense. What I want is the artwork overlayed with a visual indicator that the content is external.
Why this is needed:
I have ripped all the movies into Plex when I have physical media. But I also have bought content on Google Play, Amazon, Disney Movies Anywhere, Vudu, etc. There is no central place where my content can be viewed. "Where the hell is this movie? I know I bought it!"
Without a central location my wife has bought at least 10 movies we already own. I also find that I have done the same for a movie or two. Average that to $20 a movie and you can see this is an expensive problem.
It is also difficult for my kids to find which system they should use to watch a movie. If they could look in one place then they can find our entire catalog of movies.
Additional Features:
The basic feature of linking is all that is required. But I could imagine additional features like providing account credentials to automatically scrape the movies I own on the other site.
This would benefit the content providers by encouraging people to buy rather than "borrow for an extended time".
