Hi everyone,
So I just recently bought an iMac 27 but I got the option with a 512 SSD. I was looking for an affordable option to store my movies from a 1TB drive I had in my now dead pc and use for my plex server. The drive would also house other media and files so it wouldn’t be just a back up drive. Potentially looking at getting something between 1-3Tb to leave room for more movies.
Would SSD vs HDD make a difference for this use?
Any recommendations? (Max budget is about $150)

I was looking at a WD 3Tb my book desktop external hdd but the reviews are off putting…

For your stated use case a USB 3 WD, 3TB or 4TB would be suitable. I actually use the Elements Desktop drives far cheaper.
