i already have this disabled and videos without 4 digit season numbers work perfectly fine directly playing with the same format subtitles

How do I set subtitles to not burn in Plex Media Player on Windows 10?

PMP doesn’t need subtitles burning in. The information in this overlay is simply not correct. It is a remnant of the Smart TV app, (which is where the ‘TV mode’ of PMP originates from). Refer to the Dashboard in the web app, to see if there is transcoding going on or not.
