Extracting tags from webm files

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3876

I have a library containing mp4, webm and mkv files setup with ‘Plex Video Files Scanner’ and ‘Personal Media’ agent. These files contain tags embedded in the files (e.g. year, artist, comment).

The tags from MP4 files gets parsed correctly and shows up within Plex (e.g. the ‘comment’ tag shows up in media summary). However the tags from webm files are not getting parsed or showing up within Plex. I haven’t checked mkv files since 90%+ of files in this library are webm.

Is there anything I can do to get the webm tags to be parsed?

Appreciate any help!

The only video container formats from which Plex can extract meta tags are mp4 / m4v.
MKV / webm are unfortunately not supported.

Thanks for the reply! That’s unfortunate. Is there a way to make a feature request to add meta tag extraction for mp4 and m4v?

mp4 and m4v are already supported.

What is not supported is the Matroska container.
(webm uses the Matroska container)

A feature request is already there. Support MPEG-TS or MKV metadata
