Extras Missing After Split

For starters, I have a Lifetime Plex Pass.

This issue has happened for me with multiple movies, but I’m just going to focus on one movie as an example.

I own a copy of the movie Stargate that includes two cuts of the movie (theatrical and director’s) and two extra videos (behind the scenes & featurettes). The files are organized as follows:

/Media
/Movies
/Stargate
/Behind The Scenes
/The Making of Stargate - Creating a Whole New World.mkv
/Featurettes
/Is There a Stargate.mkv
/Stargate - Director’s Cut.mkv
/Stargate.mkv

Initially, both versions of the film showed up with the extras as one entry in Plex. I used the “split apart” feature to separate the two films so they show up separately now, but the extras are no longer showing up in the app for either version of the movie.

Is there something I can do to make the extras show up again? I don’t care if they only show up for one version of the film, I just want them to show up. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thank you!

Yeah, I encountered this problem too when I had to split apart the movies in my library about two weeks ago.

I find that once the split has been made, the extras won’t be detected if the movie files are in the same directory.

You need to create a directory for each movie file and make a copy of the extras that you will put in each of these directory. After that they will be detected again. Alternately, you can also just keep one copy of the extras and choose which version of the film will display them by placing them in the relevant folder.

It’s not great, and it does look like a bug to me.

That did it!
I made a folder specifically for the Director’s Cut, and now the movies still show up separately, and all my local extras are listed with the theatrical cut of the movie.

Thank you!
