Extras requiring plexpass?

Server Version#: 4.47.3
Player Version#: 1.21.1.3830

When I see references to “Extras & Trailers” in plex, which require a monthly pass, are they talking about the extra featurettes or behind the scenes/documentaries that often accompany blurays and box sets? Or is “Extra” a term for something technical about how plex organizes media?

Because I really wish I could see the behind the scenes stuff that comes with box sets etc…I have those files in the same folders as season episodes, and it refuses to pick them up and show them in the plex player on tv.

Ive tried renaming the files to act like more episodes in a season folder, but it seems smart enough to dodge that. Anyone know of a way?

You can’t do Extras for TV Shows that way. <—TV Show Extras go into Season 00/Special Folders.

You can do Extras for Movies that way… providing you are Naming/Structuring Extras Correctly:

BTW:

Here’s the pain point for TV Show Extras:

… you can add your vote - and/or you can start creating Special Seasons - like the rest of us.

“Extras” does refer to featurettes, trailers, behind the scenes, etc. You do not need a Plex Pass to use your locally-stored extras. Plex Pass is only needed to get extras from online sources.

But as JuiceWSA pointed out, Plex doesn’t do Extras for TV shows like it does for Movies.

Glad you mentioned that Plex Pass info - I forgot.

Perfect, thanks folks. Good explanations and links! I’ll see about pushing things into season 00 directories.

The new tv scanner appears to support local extras (see testing thread) but not all clients support displaying tv extras.

And to expound on what beck said, the plex pass extras are provided by plex, local extras are available to everyone.
