Extras won't play on Apple devices when transcoding is disabled

Player Version#: 7.21.1

Extras won’t play on Apple devices (tested with ATV 4K @ tvOS14.7, and iPhone 12 @ iOS 14.7) when Plex server (windows version) has transcoding disabled. All other players (android, Google tv, windows ) don’t have this issue. Error reads that video cannot be direct played and MP4 should be converted as it’s not supported. When transcoding is enabled , apple player will start playing extras

Sounds like that particular extra has some characteristics that don’t go well with your Apple TV client. Are you still using the legacy player on that device?

Happens for all extras actually. The player in use is the recent one available in Appstore (I don’t remember having option to choose legacy one from there)

I cannot currently reproduce this on my Apple TV; extras seem to be playing fine, no transcoding required.

No, but that shouldn’t make a difference when it comes to that.

I’m facing the same issue with Apple TV 4K and Plex on Asustor NAS.
