After upgrading to 1.18.2.2029 the DVR failed to record shows tonight. The weather was cloudy, so I thought surely this would be due to bad reception. Except when checking the backup Windows Media Center – ridiculous I need to keep this running because Plex is so unreliable – the recordings from Windows Media Center are perfect. I ran them through TS Doctor to be sure and not a single glitch showed up.
Something must be bad wrong with the latest update.
In fact Star Trek: Deep Space Nine should be recording right this second, but Plex isn’t even trying. It immediately showed the error and doesn’t appear to attempting retries. I’m looking at the live feed in the HDHR app and it seems perfectly clean.
After some further investigating I found the HDHR tuner showed offline or missing in Plex’s Live TV & DVR settings page. Bringing up my.hdhomerun.com I found the tuner on a different IP number than what Plex was showing.
Now yesterday, after I upgraded Plex to x.2029, I restarted the network’s router. DHCP assigned numbers probably changed then. They have always been set by DHCP and I don’t remember Plex ever having trouble keeping track of the location in the past. Also, that doesn’t explain The Six Million Dollar Man successfully recording this morning at 10am.
I manually entered in the location of the tuner and Plex seems to recognize it, but still won’t play a live feed. I’m about to delete the DVR and re-add it.
