False iOS notifications for "new device used to access"?

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3876
Player Version#: 7.12

Lately, I have been getting iOS push notifications that a new device was used to access my Plex server. These come at odd times when I’m sure it’s not someone in my house doing it. These notifications are NOT accompanied by the email that I usually get when I actually use a new device to access Plex and there is no history of any watching of videos in Tautulli at this time. There is no visibility of the device mentioned in my ‘authorized devices’ on my server page.

The exact message received on my iPhone is:

New Device
used a new device to access : Chrome (Chrome).

Repeating the above, I do not get a standard email stating the same (the template that includes an IP address), so it seems like a ghost error message.

I also have checked my authorized devices page and there are no Chrome devices authorized at all.

At around the same time as I got this message on my iOS device, I see an authorized device that just shows a Windows logo and my server name on the top of it (omitted from the screen shot, but I think this is actually my server itself (windows) accessing plex?).

tl;dr – getting iOS notifications for access to my server from Chrome. No email notifications, Tautulli logs or authorized devices indicate this is actually happening. Suspect something is amiss with iOS notifications. If there is a way to troubleshoot further, please let me know.

You only get email notifications for a new login. If it’s an existing device, you don’t get the email, but you do get the notification, which is what you appear to be seeing.

Next time you see the notification, please take a screenshot and PM that to me so I can check. Make sure the time is showing, otherwise let me know what time it was. Include your time zone.
