With the latest update to the XBox One player the fast forward and rewind has changed. I used to be able to hit a button and jump back or forward 10 seconds. But now it’s just a continuous fast forward and rewind. This wouldn’t be so bad if it moved a little slower. Is there a way to revert to the 10 second jump? Or at least slow down the forward and rewind?
Hi there. The 10s jumps are still available (though they’re no longer always 10s) by moving the playhead rather than pressing FF or RW. You can do this by moving focus to the playhead and then pressing left or right to skip back or forward. Hope that helps.
@Moussa I’ll try this a little later to verify, but you kept the ability to skip 10s back and 30 seconds forward via the directional pad or remote control right? Please tell me I can still use the hard buttons on my remote control to skip forward and back.
I actually forgot to mention this. But the controler I’m using is the Logitech Harmony Hub remote.
The top forward and rewind buttons initiate the rolling forward and rewind. But I haven’t tried the pad around the OK button yet. Those should be mapped to the same action as the directional pad. I’ll try it out tonight.
Is there any way to return it to the way it worked in previous versions? Super frustrating. I have to wait for the on screen controls to disappear before I can skip forward or back with my keyboard. I used to just click the forward arrow when the onscreen controls were there, but now it just starts ff and I lose my place.
Just to verify, the direction pad on my remote still uses the 10 second time jumps. So all is good on my end. 
Same here. I don’t know what @Moussa is referring to. It still jumps exactly 10 seconds back and 30 seconds forward. The only thing that’s a bit quirky is trying to access the chapter blocks underneath the progress bar. I thought before we could press the green/A button and it would pull up the menu/progress bar. Now it seems the only way to bring it up is to hit pause. And when the menu/progress bar is showing, how do we get to the chapter blocks at the bottom? Hitting down on the directional pad makes it jump back 10 minutes. At the end of the day, the functions work well, but usability is a bit quirky.
The new FF RW is terrible. Please return this to it’s previous functionality. I use the xbox media remote to control plex and now skipping forward is a huge PITA.
This doesn’t help. You broke something that worked really well.
Please make this a setting so users can go back to the old functionality, this new one does not work well for me at all, while the old one was great.
I couldn’t agree more. This has just about ruined my plex experience. I’ve found myself not wanting to watch TV at all lately and this is the reason. I need my xbox media remote to work the way it used to.
Just came across this. I am seeing similar FF/REW behavior on the Nvidia Shield with the Plex player as well. See this here Fast forward and Rewind only jump ahead, no fluid motion?
Couldn’t agree more!!! Put it back to the way it was!! I get a headache every time I think of firing up plex to watch something. Seriously considering finding an alternative Media Player/Library manager

I will have to disagree with what most people are saying on here.
I like the fact I now have two ways to Fast Forward.
In long videos, even though I could move 10m at a time, I would have to press the button, wait for it to buffer, then press again, wait for buffer, until I reached my desired section.
Now I can simply press the FF button and wait for the right time. Then, when I want to fine tune the moment, I can use the skip buttons.
