Hi, is there anything I can do to fast forward through shows a little smoother? i.e. When I’m using my Tivo and I fast forward I can watch what’s going on and it looks smooth. On Plex, the FF is pretty choppy at best and it usually skips ahead a predetermined time amount and then catches up.
Am I rambling or does that make sense?
Thanks
No one? Does it make sense or did I not explain it correctly? Maybe I’m crazy and it’s normal and it’s me who is confused.
I too would love to see a better fast forward option. As JoshFink is saying the Tivo and most DVD players and even my BoxOffice have a smooth multi speed fast forward. This would be a great addition to the Plex player.
Thanks!
Fast forward on plex is almost unusable for me. I suspect it has to do with my using a Shield pointed to a NAS and in the Tivo the disk is local.
I am curious what people are seeing when they fast forward. When I fast forward when using plex on a iOS device or a Roku device, the video jumps with no preview and gives me the circular arrow icon showing that it is “working”. It can take anywhere between 3-10 seconds for it to actually fast forward the standard 30 secs sport. When I use my WMC on my xbox, PC, etc. the fast forward in instantaneous. It just seems odd that a software such as WMC that was likely programmed 10-15 years ago can do something so much better than plex at fast forwarding or rewinding - A very basic video playing feature. Plex is moving in the right direction, but this still is not a replacement for my obsolete WMC software when it comes to video recording or video playback features.
