I love having the ability to download the original file from the Plex/Web interface. It's a great feature so thank you Plex team! It would be great if you could choose the quality that you'd like to download. Plex/Web already has transcoding built in, I just want the ability to save the transcoded files. The use case for this would be if you needed to connect to your home server over the internet and download some movies to your MacBook Air but the connection you're on is very slow. Thanks for all your hard work!
2021 clean-up: implemented (current generation Plex desktop client supports download of original/optimized media for local use)
