Feature request: Always forget last played position in music libraries

I’ve been using plex more to play music, especially during workouts.

It’s been pretty frustrating, as for some reason the server remembers the last playback positions of songs. It used to be if I explicitly hit the Stop button in the player, it would forget where it was while playing the song, but that no longer seems to work.

How does it make sense to offer to resume songs which only have seconds left until the end? How does it make sense that playing the next song in a playlist ALSO starts at some random point in the song.

I’ve had it effectively skip five songs in a row because they all start playback with 2 seconds left.

Is there really an expectation to stop playing a song on my Roku and be able to pick up right where I left off with it three days later on my Android phone?

Edit your music library
go to the “Advanced” tab
DISable “Store track progress”

Is that new? I’ve been having this problem for a while and I know I looked for a setting a while ago (just decided to post about it today).

Thanks for pointing it out.

It exists since several years. And it is off by default.

Thank you for this tip! Was getting so frustrating, and this solved it perfectly.

Not going to argue about how long its there, but I certainly never turned it on. I noticed it last year just after things closed for covid, but I have been listening to music on plex for longer than that and would have just turned it off if i was the one that turned it on.

Its bugged too; if it starts near the end and you left it finish the last few seconds, when it comes back to that song it starts AGAIN near the end.
