[Feature Request] Audio: Nested Folders View for Audio

Plex is awesome. Unequivocally, I bought in immediately. Though, the music/audio handling is quite difficult to tolerate when dealing with large, diverse, media server-sized collections.

I would like to suggest and request an audio management option for audio like the following:

  1. When creating an audio or music library an option for “Nested View” whereby Plex displays audio and music according to the file structure. Including a Plex-version of “Folder View,” -where nested folders are represented by an icon, album cover, denotation on an icon etc. For example, like the shortcut arrow on a shortcut icon in Windows.
  2. An option to “Blindly Add Media in Folder” (for lack of better wording) so that though, some files may not be recognized, they will still be added and Plex can do it’s best to play it. (I’m talking about blindly adding MP3’s that may not have ID3 or other descriptor tags embedded).
  3. The ability to add these folders wholely, to a playlist containing other single music tracks.

For example: In a folder named Music, I can have multiple folders such as “Christmas Music, Metal, Grunge, Classical, etc.” Or in some situations (as is the case for me now), folders that must stay together such as 1910s, 1920s, 1930s etc.

Thanks. And thanks for an great product.

bump for exposure. only two votes and low views so I am thinking perhaps this was skipped over. Or somethin’? w/e it is, bump. Thanks.

Early 2021 clean-up:

  • implemented (folder view)
  • duplicate (show album poster for folder)
  • duplicate (add to playlist / play / shuffle / … from folder)
