Is there a way to have plexamp just start playing where it left off when connected to a bluetooth device? The device I have is a bluetooth adapter that converts the bluetooth audio to an fm channel. The device has a play button on it that you can press if plexamp is already running on my phone. It would be nice to have an option for plexamp to monitor bluetooth connections in the background and have it start the last playlist once connected. Thanks for the awesome app by the way, It’s the only thing I listen to in the car and at home.
Is suspect this is functionality Plexamp shouldn’t be expected to take responsibility for.
I achieve this on Android using Tasker. Other automation apps, such as IFTTT, should also be able to perform this function.
I tried ifttt and one other and couldn’t get it to work right. I know with built in bluetooth receivers the receiver will send the play signal on it’s own. I don’t want to have to replace the one in my car just for that though. I will keep trying. Thanks for the reply.
I wanted a similar feature when connecting my android phone to the bluetooth in my car. Without an app, more often than not it ended up playing some random web site. There are Android apps that will auto-play a specific music app on a bluetooth connection, but since Plexamp isn’t a choice as I presume it isn’t configured to be an “official android audio player”.
I found the ‘Bluetooth connect & Play’ app had an option to manually select Plexamp even if it isn’t an official android audio player, and it worked great for me. So now when my phone connects to bluetooth in my car, headphones, or wireless speaker I have it configured to auto-play. You can choose per bluetooth device. In my vehicles (Subaru Forrester 2014 & Toyota Highlander 2021) it will auto play if the source is set to bluetooth audio, but not change from the radio if that is the current source.
The app is free, so you can try it out to see if it works for you. It isn’t the prettiest thing, but it does what I need. It worked well enough I made a donation (goes the the writer’s kid’s college fund :-)).

P.S. With prior audio players (Google Music, YouTube Music), Used to use “Bluetooth Autoplay Music” for the same feature, but it wouldn’t allow me to select Plexamp.
I would like to add a feature to Autoplay.
Could Plexamp please just have a checkbox to:
When an Audio Output device is connected/disconnected.
To play/pause the music.
This is a feature of my player for local audio, i just grab my bluetooth headphones or plug in an audio jack and music starts playing automagically.
Would be great ^^
Additionally, Plexamp now seems to pause if i “close” the App, or if something else interferes like a call.
It should pause on a Call, resume after. And it could keep running in the background (again, look at PowerAmp, good example)
Keep up the good work ^^
I found a quick temporary fix for “Auto Play/Pause on Audio Output Device Connect/Disconnect”
This app will fix this shortcoming of plexamp for now: Bluetooth connect & Play
