I’m fairly new to Plex (just got a lifetime pass) and the server and various clients (Plex Amp, IOS/Android apps, web application).
However, one thing that has struck me is that when I click on the song artist name (whether in Plex Amp or the other clients) I get redirected to the album artist.
This is fine in many situations where the song and album artist is the same, but for compilations this produces an unexpected result of getting taken to the ‘Various Artists’ page.
I’ve looked into it a bit and realise that the ‘song artist’ isn’t treated in the Plex database as an ‘Artist’ as such. Does that seem right?
Is there any progress being made on this issue and the general handling of compilations/soundtracks? In iTunes this is done via the ‘Part of a compilation’ flag that gets put onto tracks. Is there something similar in Plex that I am missing? There probably should be.
