With the newly released ChromeCast allows you to hook their device up to any HDMI enabled TV and stream content from your Android phone.
Would it be possible in the future to add this as a sink?
The Android Plex app would have to stream it to the device.
I believe it takes URL strings, so potentially until then we can use Chrome and PlexWeb, but it would be awesome for native.
Found a couple of other things. Looks like the device only supports MPEG-DASH and Microsoft SmoothStreaming for transcoding services. Plex uses HLS for transcoding so it looks like Plex Media Server would need to be able to support at least MPEG-DASH (which is a standard) or SmoothStreaming. Personally I'd prefer MPEG-DASH at least it is an international standard.
YES. PLEASE. Totally cool with hooking my Mac up to my tv every time I want to stream Plex media to a big screen (because Rasplex is ok if you have an ethernet connection but blargh no ethernet at my tv), but to have Plex and Netflix and YouTube in the same device built for the big screen would be FANTASTIC.
This would be great if I could sync video to my device like I do now for travel and then be able to play synced content from tablet direct to TV while offline. Our holiday home has no internet so rather than only watching on tablet I could stream to TV.
