If I understand correctly, plex uses ffmpeg to transocde the videos from TS to MKV. Unfortunately, the Closed Captions/subtitles are stripped out during conversion. Any chance they could be retained? A command like:
ffmpeg -f lavfi -i movie=“file”[out+subcc] -an -vn -map s -c:s srt srtfilename.srt

I would like to see the subtitles retained as well. That would be great if they would be there after the conversion. If I leave the file in the original .ts format am I able to use the subtitles?
Yes. I actually just finished a script which extracts them from the TS file.

Would appreciate this feature for Live TV as well. My tuner provides a CC Stream and I’m able to see if I use a different player to play the video.
