The ability to flag/star your “favorite” music albums then “filter” the library for just “favorites” would be a powerful feature. Out of the 2,500+ music albums in my collection there’s a much smaller subset that are truly favorites. It would be great to be able to quickly query for, review and play them.
PS I imagine there’d be support for this kind of functionality for movies, as well.

But for some reason, when the library is displayed by Album, there is no Rating filter.
It’s a possible work around, for sure, provided it could be filtered. I thought about it and also the possibility of using a “Collection” like Plex has for movies (not available for music). Here’s what the filter options are for Albums with a basic music library:
There is a Rating filter at the Track level. If you don’t mind doing it at the Track level rather than albums, you could edit each individual track, give it a star rating, then create a Smart Playlist. From that point forward, anytime you give a track the appropriate number of stars, it will automatically show up in the playlist.
What I’m really looking for is a filter at the album level. The intent and use would be separate and distinct from that of a playlist. At the heart of my request is the desire to see the filtered list at the album level, as opposed to the track level. It’s a visual thing, just like filtering for year, decade, genre or record label is.
In the meantime, as a work around, I think my best option would be to change the genre of my favorite albums to “Favorite” and use the existing filtering capabilities. It will give me the desired effect and functionality that I’m looking for, but at a cost. Therefore, I don’t see it as a permanent solution and will continue to lobby for either (1) implementation of a new “favorites” flag at the album level, or (2) the ability to filter based on star ratings at the album level.

There is no filter for rating, but a ‘sort’ option is available in the album list.
So you could have your whole album list, but with your favorites at the top.

You don’t have to change the genre. An album can have multiple genres.
