I was wondering if it would be possible (or if there are plans) to leverage playlists as a hub content on the home screen.
I’m also curious if it would be possibly to create playlists with rules in mind so that they update dynamically as new content is added. - rules that query the data within the media tags.
For instance, it would be nice to create a playlist of all movies directed by Martin Scorsese and then an option to have a hub based on that playlist so that i can cycle through it on the home screen. The playlist could have a rule that bases it’s content on the Director tag.
thanks for the link… sorry for asking something that could have been found in the how-to section.
as to the playlists functionality in the hubs… it would be interesting. It allows the home screen to be similar to the netflix/amazon stlye, but with custom option.
@beckfield took a look at the post - this sounds exactly like what i’m looking for, provided each playlist would have it’s items displayed within its own hub (if i want that playlist to be displayed as a hub) and not a hub of playlists.
so the smart playlist of movies tagged as sci-fi are displayed with a scroll right to left option. not a hub of all my movies/music/etc playlists.
Okay, then, that’s not what is currently on the Roku Plex app. The Roku app has a “hub of playlists,” not individual playlists broken out. Personally, I prefer the hub of playlists, but I only use playlists for music and photos. I can see how your idea might be more useful for movies.
